What Have Two Little 8 Month Olds Been Up To?

We've been staying close to home with Owen and Maren lately, but we are still busy!  Here are a few things we've been up to lately.

We are trying new foods every day, like green beans, which are a new favorite for Owen.

We are getting teeth like crazy.  Maren has five total, and is happy to show off her two bottom teeth.  Owen has four total, and is very close to matching his sister's five.

We are doing a lot of exploring and figuring out where we fit and where we don't.  Owen does not fit under the end table (no matter how hard he tries).

We play parachute.  Aunt Annie introduced us to this game, which is basically waving a blanket over their heads and slowing bringing it down over them.  These are the faces that result.

We make lots of trips to the swings near our house.

 We even swing "twin style."

This is how much we love swinging!  Maren is this noisy, too, but she stops the minute she sees the camera.

We knock over the activity mat and roll ourselves up in it until we get stuck and have to be rescued.

We practice getting up on our hands and knees.

We roll and scoot until we make it next to the chair you are sitting in and then celebrate!

We play with noisy toys on the floor.

We try on our brother's cranio cap just for fun.

Eight Months Old!

Maren and Owen turned 8 months old over the weekend, and they are officially mobile!  They are not crawling but can reach anything exciting (like a clump of dog hair or a cord) by scooting and rolling.   To celebrate surviving 8 months, we will be doing some baby-proofing.

So excited to be 8 months old!

My hand was necessary to keep this smiley guy from diving right off the chair.

Maren was obsessed with her sticker.  She almost got it off, too.

Owen may be bigger, but there is no mistaking who's really in charge.

We also went to a fall festival hosted by a neighborhood church over the weekend.  It started with the world's shortest parade on Saturday.  Seriously, it took us longer to load the stroller and walk (a couple blocks) to the parade than it did to watch it.  The kiddos still had a good time, though.

Watching our first parade!

Finding some shade in the BINGO Tent after the parade

Finally, here are some other pictures from our last week.

Watching Sesame Street

Maren scooted under this chair and brought some library books with her.  I am seeing forts in our future.

Showing off some cute outfits.

A First Haircut

Maren had her first hair last week.  Although she still has a little bald spot on the back of her head, the rest of her hair was out of control!

Before
She had bangs growing in her eyes, which clearly made her sad.

And then there was this rat tail. . .

After
Showing off her stylish little pixie cut.

Look, mom, no rat tail!

A very happy girl after a trip to the salon!

Other than rocking her new hairstyle, Maren is busy playing with her brother.  Both babies think it is so funny when one of them is in the pack n play and the other is outside.  I captured some of the fun in this video.
